Twelve Songs of Emotion, Memories, and the Desire to Feel Close

Some albums invite us to listen closely to the stories they have to tell, allowing words and melodies to find their way to the listener. That is what I look for in Ti cerco nel mondo, the new album by Florentine singer-songwriter Francesco Rainero, released in 2025 by Ipogeo Records. It features twelve songs recorded live in the studio with his band, capturing the spontaneity that comes from playing together and sharing a musical journey. Each track also features a guest musician, whose instrument adds a different shade to the compositions, helping shape a distinctive sound world.

Born in Florence in 1995, Francesco Rainero has built a career that combines songwriting with a strong interest in culture and its promotion. Along the way, he has collaborated with Bungaro and opened concerts for artists such as Ligabue and Francesco De Gregori. In 2017, he released Mancino, an album featuring a duet with Grazia Di Michele. In 2018, he received the Premio Lunezia, became the youngest winner of Musicultura, and reached the finals of the Premio Bertoli.

His EP Generazione followed in 2019, while 2021 saw the release of La libera bellezza, a covers project. Alongside his own songs, Rainero also explores the music of other artists. He is the frontman of Innocenti Evasioni, a project dedicated to Lucio Battisti, and Cominciai a sognare anch'io, a tribute to the music of Fabrizio De André. He also collaborates with the Notte Nazionale del Liceo Classico, maintaining a connection between artistic expression and education.

In November 2025, Ti cerco nel mondo, his new album of original songs, was released by Ipogeo Records. In 2026, he became a finalist for the Il mio cantico libero award and co-wrote the song Una vita nuova with Mogol. His cultural commitment extends beyond music: in 2020, he founded Li.Be – Libera Bellezza Associazione Culturale, and since 2022 he has served as artistic director of Culter. His work brings together songwriting, musical activity, cultural engagement, and opportunities for shared experiences. His degree in Greek literature completes the portrait of an artist who looks to tradition while remaining firmly engaged with the present.

The journey begins with La magnificenza, a delicate opening that immediately introduces the listener to Francesco Rainero's expressive world. Next comes Cose buone, the first single, where melody takes centre stage and delivers one of the album's most immediate moments. With La strada dove gli angeli non possono entrare, the title suggests a more introspective passage, before Crea brings greater sonic energy to the forefront. The song reveals a more forceful side of the singer-songwriter, further developed in La fetta più ricca, where the power of the arrangement expands the expressive possibilities of the songwriting.

At the heart of the tracklist is Joni Mitchell, a title that evokes one of the most influential figures in international singer-songwriter music. It is followed by Siamo ancora quelli là, a phrase that seems to look back on the passing of time and the relationship with who we have become. Meanwhile, Portami a casa evokes the need to find a place, a presence, or a sense of belonging where we can feel welcome. These themes fit the album's personal character, leaving room for different interpretations.

With Tommaso, the focus shifts to a proper name, a detail that might refer to a person or a particular story, although the lyrics would need to be explored to understand it more fully. Then comes Paraíba, one of the album's most distinctive moments. Italian and Portuguese coexist in a song imbued with saudade, expressing a sensibility that reaches beyond the boundaries of the Italian singer-songwriter tradition.

Geografia finally opens up the sound towards broader, Mediterranean colours, before the title track brings the journey to a close. Ti cerco nel mondo returns to the ideas of searching and connection, encapsulating the thread that links the twelve compositions: the desire to find something in other people, places, and experiences that speaks to us as well.

Recorded live in the studio and enriched by guest musicians, Ti cerco nel mondo places its trust in the natural flow of performance and the care devoted to songwriting. It is an album rooted in Italian singer-songwriter music, allowing words, melodies, and the different shades of its arrangements to breathe, with every element given a purpose.

With Ti cerco nel mondo, I find the value of songs that do not need elaborate effects to leave a lasting impression, because they reach us through their words, melodies, and the sincerity of their delivery. As a music lover, this is what I continue to look for in albums: emotions that stay with me after the listening experience has ended, little details that return to mind, and songs in which I can recognise something of myself.

Francesco Rainero's twelve songs have left me with that feeling: a journey in which personal experiences and shared emotions eventually meet. Ti cerco nel mondo is an album that deserves time and attention, one to be heard without rushing, allowing each song to find its own place. Because, ultimately, this is part of what makes music so special: discovering, through other people's stories, emotions we once thought belonged only to us.
