Mettersi ad ascoltare l’album omonimo di Simone Galassi è come fare un tuffo in un mondo sonoro che sembra lontano nel tempo, eppure così vivido e presente. La sua chitarra ti prende subito per mano e ti guida attraverso riff e assoli che respirano l’aria del rock blues degli anni d’oro, senza mai cadere nella nostalgia: qui c’è vita, qui c’è musica vera, suonata con sentimento e senza fronzoli.
Dieci tracce che raccontano un percorso lungo trent’anni, fatto di concerti, viaggi, passione e studio, e che finalmente trovano forma su disco. Ogni brano è un pezzo della sua anima: c’è il fuoco di jimi Hendrix, la sincerità di Rory Gallagher, la potenza dei Led Zeppelin, ma filtrati attraverso la sensibilità di un musicista che ha scelto di parlare con la propria voce, quella della chitarra e della vita che ha vissuto sul palco e fuori.
Dopo anni a interpretare la musica dei grandi, era naturale che arrivasse il momento di raccontare qualcosa di personale. L’album omonimo, il suo debutto su disco, arriva finalmente con la forza di un lungo percorso di vita e musica. Registrato con strumentazione vintage nello studio di Carlo Poddighe, polistrumentista e produttore dell’album, vede Galassi a voce e chitarre e Poddighe a batteria, basso e tastiere. Il risultato è un lavoro che suona autentico, fatto di feeling più che di artifici: ogni nota, ogni frase musicale ha un senso, un’anima.
These Chains apre il disco con un hard blues tirato e travolgente. La chitarra di Galassi impone subito la sua presenza, tra riff potenti e un assolo che non lascia dubbi: qui non c’è spazio per modernità forzate, c’è solo la musica che ama e che vive.
I Have To Tell You apre un mid-tempo caldo e pulsante, con la chitarra che scivola tra riff incisivi e melodie sinuose, mentre il groove della sezione ritmica ti tiene avvolto, facendoti sentire l’energia viva del brano senza mai forzare nulla. È una supplica intensa, un racconto di scelte sbagliate e fragilità umane, trasmesso con naturalezza e sentimento.
Lead è un intermezzo breve ma intenso, un lampo di psichedelia fatto di eco e synth analogico che apre una piccola porta sul mondo sonoro di Galassi. È il preludio perfetto a I’ll Never, un hard blues serrato dove la Stratocaster e i synth dialogano con naturalezza, intrecciando tecnica e sentimento in un flusso vibrante che sembra danzare tra tensione e libera espressione.
95 è il brano più funk dell’album: clavinet, chitarre alternate e pedale Wah creano un groove irresistibile, che invita a muovere il piede e allo stesso tempo a fermarsi ad ascoltare ogni sfumatura del suono. Un pezzo dove tecnica e sentimento si intrecciano con naturalezza, mostrando tutta la versatilità musicale di Galassi.
In Your Eyes mescola blues e funk con naturalezza, creando un’atmosfera vibrante e calda. La tensione cresce tra le chitarre che si inseguono e dialogano, quasi a raccontare una storia di desideri e emozioni non dette, dove ogni frase musicale sembra carica di sentimento e movimento.
Since You’re Gone è una ballad intensa, hendrixiana e Gallagheriana allo stesso tempo, in cui la chitarra solista racconta il dolore della perdita e l’intimità dei sentimenti, sorretta da Hammond e Wurlitzer che avvolgono il tutto in un’atmosfera calda e vibrante.
Damnation torna al rock blues più energico, con un wah wah incisivo e un groove che riflette fragilità e tensioni emotive.
Shooting Stars è uno dei momenti più riusciti del disco: arrangiamento curato, cori, pianoforti e chitarre che dialogano tra loro, una ballad hendrixiana che invita a non abbandonare i sogni, quelli dell’infanzia che rischiano di spegnersi crescendo.
Infine, Hazy Nights chiude con un riff pesante e sonorità grunge, l’elemento più moderno dell’album, senza perdere mai il tocco hard blues. La voce di Galassi, mai virtuosistica ma sempre espressiva, e gli assoli intensi completano un finale che lascia il segno.
Questo debutto non è solo una raccolta di canzoni: è la fotografia di un musicista che ha scelto di restare fedele al proprio amore per il sound e al feeling della musica suonata, senza inseguire mode o tendenze. L’album è suonato e arrangiato con cura, con una sensibilità che fa percepire ogni nota come necessaria, ogni frase come autentica.

Listening to Simone Galassi’s self-titled album is like diving into a sound world that feels distant in time, yet vivid and immediate. His guitar takes you by the hand from the very first note, guiding you through riffs and solos that breathe the air of classic rock blues, without ever tipping into nostalgia: here there is life, here there is real music, played with feeling and without frills.
Ten tracks that tell the story of a thirty-year journey of concerts, travels, passion, and study, finally taking shape on record. Each song is a piece of his soul: the fire of Hendrix, the honesty of Rory Gallagher, the power of Led Zeppelin, filtered through the sensitivity of a musician who has chosen to speak with his own voice, through his guitar, and through the life he has lived on and off the stage.
After years of interpreting the music of the greats, it was only natural that the moment came to tell something personal. The self-titled album, his debut, arrives with the strength of a long life and musical journey. Recorded with vintage equipment at Carlo Poddighe’s studio, multi-instrumentalist and producer of the album, it features Galassi on vocals and guitars, with Poddighe on drums, bass, and keyboards. The result is an authentic work, guided by feeling rather than artifices: every note, every musical phrase has meaning and soul.
These Chains opens the album with a driving hard blues. Galassi’s guitar immediately asserts itself with powerful riffs and a solo that leaves no doubt: there is no space for forced modernity here, only the music he loves and lives.
I Have To Tell You brings a warm, pulsating mid-tempo, with the guitar sliding between incisive riffs and sinuous melodies, while the rhythm section keeps you wrapped in the track’s energy without ever overdoing it.
