Un respiro musicale sospeso tra lirismo e improvvisazione
Gentle Breath, pubblicato da Emme Record Label, nasce come un progetto che guarda al jazz contemporaneo con una sensibilità ampia, capace di attraversare la musica colta europea, l’elettronica e una certa idea di narrazione sonora.
Il collettivo Crescendo Sphere riunisce giovani musicisti della scena italiana già affermati in contesti internazionali: Stefano Proietti (band leader, pianoforte, tastiere, composizioni, arrangiamenti, live electronics), Gian Marco De Nisi (band leader, batteria, percussioni, composizioni, arrangiamenti, live electronics), Aldo Di Caterino (flauto in do, flauto contralto), Vittorio Cuculo (sax contralto e soprano), Giordano Panizza (contrabbasso, basso elettrico), e trova un punto di ulteriore apertura nella presenza di Fabrizio Bosso (tromba, effetti), qui coinvolto non come semplice ospite ma come parte integrante del flusso creativo.
Fin dalle prime battute, i Crescendo Sphere si mostrano come un organismo unitario, con un flusso continuo in cui le composizioni si richiamano e si trasformano, privilegiando il racconto complessivo rispetto a episodi isolati. Il pianoforte e le tastiere di Proietti definiscono paesaggi armonici sospesi, sospinti da un senso della scrittura colta e da aperture contemporanee, mentre De Nisi costruisce trame ritmiche dinamiche, mai solo di sostegno, ma parte integrante del discorso.
Entrando nel cuore dei brani, i Crescendo Sphere costruiscono il proprio racconto in modo progressivo, seguendo una traiettoria coerente e ben calibrata.
Dreamlike Thoughts, firmata da Stefano Proietti con arrangiamento di Gian Marco De Nisi, apre con un lirismo misurato: le progressioni armoniche sostengono una melodia contemplativa, creando subito un clima sospeso.
Chasing The Sunset amplia questa dimensione con un respiro più rarefatto e suggestioni quasi cinematografiche, mentre Maurice scava nelle dinamiche interne dell’ensemble, muovendosi in un’atmosfera più scura e avvolgente.
Con New Experience, Aldo Di Caterino porta il flauto in primo piano, definendo un suono più luminoso e aperto, che trova continuità in Through Uncharted Waters, dove il dialogo con pianoforte e sezione ritmica mantiene un equilibrio fluido tra lirismo e movimento, con accenti dal sapore mediterraneo.
Let’s Ride, composta da De Nisi insieme a Proietti, introduce una pulsazione più marcata, lasciando emergere l’energia propulsiva del gruppo senza rompere la coesione del percorso. Il brano che intitola l’album, Gentle Breath, torna invece a una dimensione più sospesa, con un’impronta leggermente retrò e un interplay costruito sull’ascolto reciproco e su una crescita graduale del suono.
Fragments Of Tomorrow apre a un terreno armonico più articolato, con delicate sfumature calde e avvolgenti, mentre Lunar View chiude il percorso con una vena più urbana, attraversata da accenti quasi funk, mantenendo però quella cura dell’equilibrio che attraversa tutto il disco.

Gentle Breath, released by Emme Record Label, emerges as a project with a broad sensitivity toward contemporary jazz, capable of traversing European art music, electronics, and a certain sense of sonic storytelling.
The collective Crescendo Sphere brings together young Italian musicians already recognized on international stages: Stefano Proietti (band leader, piano, keyboards, compositions, arrangements, live electronics), Gian Marco De Nisi (band leader, drums, percussion, compositions, arrangements, live electronics), Aldo Di Caterino (C and alto flute), Vittorio Cuculo (alto and soprano sax), Giordano Panizza (double bass, electric bass), with the added openness of Fabrizio Bosso (trumpet, effects), involved not merely as a guest but as an integral part of the creative flow.
From the very first notes, Crescendo Sphere presents itself as a unified organism, with a continuous flow where compositions reference and transform each other, favoring the overall narrative rather than isolated episodes. Proietti’s piano and keyboards outline suspended harmonic landscapes, guided by a sense of artful composition and contemporary openness, while De Nisi builds dynamic rhythmic patterns, never just supportive but fully part of the musical discourse.

Dreamlike Thoughts, composed by Stefano Proietti with arrangements by Gian Marco De Nisi, opens with measured lyricism: harmonic progressions support a contemplative melody, immediately creating a suspended atmosphere.
Chasing The Sunset expands this dimension with a more rarefied breath and almost cinematic suggestions, while “Maurice” explores the ensemble’s internal dynamics, moving through a darker, more enveloping atmosphere.
With New Experience, Aldo Di Caterino brings the flute to the forefront, defining a brighter, more open sound, which continues in Through Uncharted Waters, where the dialogue with piano and rhythm section maintains a fluid balance between lyricism and movement, with Mediterranean-flavored accents.
Let’s Ride, composed by De Nisi and Proietti, introduces a stronger pulse, allowing the group’s propulsive energy to emerge without breaking the cohesion of the journey. The album’s title track, Gentle Breath, returns to a more suspended dimension, with a slightly retro feel and an interplay built on mutual listening and gradual sonic growth.
Fragments Of Tomorrow explores a more complex harmonic terrain, with warm and enveloping subtle shades, while Lunar View closes the journey with a more urban vein, marked by almost funky accents, yet maintaining the careful balance that runs throughout the album.
