Ascoltando La Tregua del Duo Réflections si avverte subito un disco che parla di jazz senza bisogno di dichiararlo. Non perché lo nasconda, ma perché lo assume come metodo: un modo di stare nella musica fatto di ascolto reciproco, gestione del tempo e rischio come parte integrante del processo creativo. Il disco è pubblicato dall'ottima etichetta italiana Filibusta Records, meritevole di un plauso per il coraggio e la cura con cui sostiene progetti musicali innovativi.

Il cuore del disco è il dialogo tra i due musicisti francesi, Sylvain Rey al pianoforte e oggetti sonori e Leandro Lopez-Nussa alla chitarra ed effetti. Un terreno delicato che potrebbe facilmente generare sovrapposizioni o squilibri, ma che qui si trasforma in forza narrativa. I loro strumenti si cercano, si sfiorano e si sostengono: ogni tensione diventa relazione, un continuo gioco di pesi e contrappesi che nasce dall’istante e dall’ascolto condiviso.

La musica si sviluppa con naturalezza e leggerezza: scivola fluida tra i due strumenti senza mai dominare, permettendo ai silenzi di assumere un ruolo centrale, non come pause vuote, ma come spazi di senso, dove l’improvvisazione continua a respirare anche nell’assenza di suono.

L’improvvisazione non arriva mai come semplice virtuosismo: fa parte della scrittura, al punto che composizione e istante si fondono. Questo equilibrio conferisce al disco un jazz adulto, consapevole e riflessivo, che privilegia la relazione all’affermazione individuale e la profondità alla superficie. La Tregua chiede attenzione e tempo, ma ripaga con autenticità e intensità rara.

La sequenza della track list costruisce un percorso naturale e coerente. Aube apre con un tempo sospeso e delicato, quasi circolare, accennando già i primi dialoghi tra pianoforte e chitarra. La title-track La Tregua scorre come un ruscello nel bosco, con flusso costante e misurato, dove ogni suono sembra trovare il suo posto con precisione.

In Juan & John si percepisce uno spazio più ampio, con frasi che si intrecciano e si rispondono senza sopraffarsi, mentre Zythum invita a una sospensione meditativa, dove ogni nota sembra galleggiare nello spazio. Fo’ Blue ed En las Nubes giocano sulla sottrazione e sull’assenza, evocando immagini sospese e suggestioni delicate.

For Karl concentra l’essenzialità, con linee limpide e decise, mentre Bobado propone un dialogo più terreno, irregolare e dinamico. Infine, L’Ami de Rasputin chiude il disco come una porta aperta, lasciando l’ascoltatore in uno stato di attesa e contemplazione.

I brani disegnano paesaggi sonori che affiorano lentamente, con delicatezza: il tempo che sembra rallentare, la città che si riempie di silenziosa natura, ruscelli di note che scorrono tra spazi vuoti, e ricordi sospesi tra angoli dimenticati. Non è una narrazione diretta, ma una passeggiata emozionale che ciascun ascoltatore può attraversare a modo proprio, seguendo la corrente del duo.

La Tregua del Duo Réflections si impone come esperienza completa: una tregua non tra generi, ma tra aspettativa e abbandono, tra scrittura e improvvisazione. In questo spazio fragile e luminoso, pianoforte e chitarra, tradizione e invenzione, rigore e immaginazione convivono senza annullarsi. Ascoltarlo significa lasciarsi avvolgere da un dialogo che vibra dentro, sentirsi trasportati in un luogo sospeso dove ogni nota diventa carezza, ogni silenzio un respiro condiviso.

Listening to La Tregua by the Duo Réflections, one immediately senses a record that speaks the language of jazz without needing to declare it. Not because it conceals jazz, but because it assumes it as a method: a way of being in music shaped by mutual listening, a careful handling of time, and risk embraced as an integral part of the creative process. The album is released by the excellent Italian label Filibusta Records, deserving praise for the courage and care with which it supports innovative musical projects.

At the heart of the record lies the dialogue between the two French musicians, Sylvain Rey on piano and Leandro Lopez-Nussa on guitar and effects. It is a delicate terrain that could easily generate overlap or imbalance, yet here it becomes a narrative strength. Their instruments seek one another out, brush past each other, and offer support: every tension turns into relationship, a continuous play of counterweights born in the moment and sustained by shared listening.

The music unfolds with naturalness and lightness, flowing fluidly between the two instruments without ever asserting dominance. In Juan & John, a wider space emerges, with phrases intertwining and responding to one another without overpowering. Zythum invites a meditative suspension, where each note seems to float in space. Fo’ Blue and En las Nubes work through subtraction and absence, evoking suspended images and subtle suggestions.

For Karl focuses on concentrated essentiality, with clear and decisive lines, while Bobado offers a more earthy, irregular, and dynamic dialogue. Finally, L’Ami de Rasputin closes the album like an open door, leaving the listener in a state of waiting and contemplation. The tracks sketch soundscapes that surface slowly and gently: time seeming to slow down, the city filling with a quiet sense of nature, streams of notes flowing through empty spaces, and memories suspended among forgotten corners. It is not a linear narrative, but an emotional walk that each listener can travel in their own way, following the current of the duo.
