Un racconto per pianoforte tra volo, solitudine e ritorno a sé
Ci sono dischi che raccontano una storia attraverso le parole e altri che scelgono di affidarsi soltanto al suono. Il Passero Solitario di Nicola Pazzini in arte Zycra appartiene a questa seconda categoria. È un lavoro per pianoforte solo che prende ispirazione dall'omonima poesia di Giacomo Leopardi, ma che finisce per parlare di qualcosa di più ampio: il rapporto con la solitudine, il dubbio, la perdita e la possibilità di ritrovarsi.
L'album nasce come un percorso preciso. Non una sequenza di composizioni indipendenti, ma una sorta di racconto in tre atti che segue il cammino simbolico di un passero: l'ascesa, la crisi e la rinascita. Un'idea che richiama direttamente la riflessione leopardiana sulla condizione dell'individuo isolato dagli altri, ma che qui viene reinterpretata in chiave contemporanea e personale.
Fin dalle prime tracce emerge una scrittura pianistica che cerca l'immagine prima ancora della forma. Il volo evocato da Divine Wind e il senso di apertura che attraversa Fly costruiscono un'atmosfera luminosa, quasi sospesa. Il pianoforte non cerca virtuosismi né effetti spettacolari: preferisce lavorare sulla suggestione, sulla ripetizione di cellule melodiche e sulla capacità di lasciare spazio al silenzio.
La prima parte del disco possiede infatti una leggerezza che sembra guardare verso l'alto. Le nuvole, elemento ricorrente del racconto, diventano una metafora del passaggio da una fase di apparente serenità a una dimensione più inquieta. Quando il bianco lascia spazio al nero, cambia anche il clima emotivo dell'album.
È nella sezione centrale che il lavoro trova probabilmente il suo nucleo più intenso. Brani come Martellanti Dubbi e Rumorosa Solitudine introducono una tensione diversa, fatta di figure ripetitive, movimenti circolari e armonie che sembrano non trovare una vera risoluzione. Il pianoforte assume qui una funzione quasi introspettiva: accompagna pensieri che ritornano, domande che non ricevono risposta immediata.
Anche El crimen fue en Italia contribuisce ad allargare lo sguardo oltre la dimensione individuale, suggerendo una riflessione che coinvolge il contesto sociale e il rapporto con il mondo esterno. Il viaggio del passero non è soltanto interiore; è anche il confronto con ciò che lo circonda.
La terza fase segna il momento della rinascita. Dopo la densità emotiva della sezione centrale, il racconto si apre gradualmente a una luce diversa, più morbida e consapevole. Con Nuvole in Fiore il percorso sembra rifiorire, come se le esperienze attraversate trovassero finalmente una forma nuova, meno conflittuale e più accogliente.
In Butterfly e Birdwoman la dimensione dell’incontro diventa centrale: il pianoforte si muove con maggiore respiro, lasciando spazio a una sensibilità che guarda all’altro come possibilità di trasformazione. È un passaggio che non cancella il dolore precedente, ma lo rielabora.
Il percorso si chiude con Following a Bird (Unconditioned) di Ezio Bosso, dove l’idea di “perdersi per ritrovarsi” diventa sintesi emotiva dell’intero album. Non una conclusione netta, ma una consapevolezza raggiunta attraverso il movimento, l’ascolto e il tempo.

Musicalmente Zycra costruisce un linguaggio che si colloca nell'area dellla contemporary piano music, dialogando idealmente con autori come Ludovico Einaudi, Dardust, Poppy Ackroyd ed Ezio Bosso, senza rinunciare a una propria dimensione narrativa. Il pianoforte diventa il mezzo attraverso cui immagini letterarie, suggestioni cinematografiche e riflessioni personali confluiscono in un unico racconto sonoro.
Il Passero Solitario è uno di quei dischi che chiedono di essere ascoltati dall'inizio alla fine, senza fretta. Il suo senso più profondo non si trova in un singolo brano, ma nel percorso che prende forma passo dopo passo. Seguendo il volo di questo passero immaginario, ci si ritrova dentro emozioni che appartengono un po' a tutti: l'entusiasmo della scoperta, il peso dei dubbi, la sensazione di sentirsi fuori posto e, infine, la possibilità di ritrovare una direzione. È un viaggio delicato e sincero che racconta come, a volte, sia proprio l'attraversamento della solitudine a permetterci di riconoscere chi siamo davvero.

A piano story between flight, solitude and the return to oneself
There are albums that tell a story through words, and others that choose to rely solely on sound. Il Passero Solitario by Nicola Pazzini, known artistically as Zycra, belongs to the latter category. It is a solo piano work inspired by Giacomo Leopardi’s homonymous poem, yet it ultimately speaks about something broader: the relationship with solitude, doubt, loss, and the possibility of finding oneself again.
The album is conceived as a precise journey. Not a sequence of independent compositions, but rather a three-act narrative following the symbolic path of a sparrow: ascent, crisis, and rebirth. An idea that directly recalls Leopardi’s reflection on the condition of the isolated individual, here reinterpreted in a contemporary and personal key.
From the very first tracks, a pianistic language emerges that seeks imagery before form. The flight evoked in Divine Wind and the sense of openness running through Fly build a luminous, suspended atmosphere. The piano avoids virtuosity and spectacular effects, preferring suggestion, the repetition of melodic cells, and the ability to leave space for silence.
The first part of the album carries a lightness that seems to look upward. Clouds, a recurring element in the narrative, become a metaphor for the transition from apparent serenity to a more uneasy emotional state. When white gives way to black, the album’s emotional climate shifts as well.
It is in the central section that the work finds its most intense core. Pieces such as Martellanti Dubbi and Rumorosa Solitudine introduce a different kind of tension, built on repetitive figures, circular motion, and harmonies that seem unable to reach resolution. Here, the piano takes on a deeply introspective role, accompanying recurring thoughts and unanswered questions.
El crimen fue en Italia also broadens the perspective beyond the individual dimension, suggesting a reflection that involves the social context and the relationship with the external world. The sparrow’s journey is not only inward; it is also a confrontation with what surrounds it.
The third phase marks the moment of rebirth. After the emotional density of the central section, the narrative gradually opens to a different kind of light, softer and more aware. With Nuvole in Fiore, the journey seems to blossom again, as if the experiences endured finally find a new form—less conflicted and more welcoming.
In Butterfly and Birdwoman, the dimension of encounter becomes central: the piano breathes more freely, allowing space for a sensitivity that sees the other as a possibility of transformation. It is a passage that does not erase previous pain but reworks it.
The journey closes with Following a Bird (Unconditioned) by Ezio Bosso, where the idea of “getting lost to find oneself” becomes the emotional synthesis of the entire album. Not a definitive ending, but a form of awareness reached through movement, listening, and time.
Musically, Zycra builds a language that sits within the contemporary piano music sphere, in dialogue with artists such as Ludovico Einaudi, Dardust, Poppy Ackroyd, and Ezio Bosso, while maintaining a distinct narrative identity. The piano becomes the medium through which literary imagery, cinematic suggestions, and personal reflections merge into a single sonic story.
Il Passero Solitario is one of those albums that demands to be listened to from beginning to end, without haste. Its deepest meaning is not found in a single track, but in the path it traces step by step. Following the flight of this imagined sparrow, the listener encounters emotions that feel universally human: the excitement of discovery, the weight of doubt, the sensation of feeling out of place, and finally the possibility of finding direction again. It is a delicate and sincere journey that shows how, at times, it is precisely by passing through solitude that we come to understand who we truly are.
