Un racconto sonoro che chiede ascolto e restituisce visione
C’è qualcosa di spudoratamente controcorrente nel modo in cui gli Hällas si presentano nel 2026. Aprire un disco con una suite di oltre venti minuti non è solo una scelta coraggiosa: è una dichiarazione d’intenti. Panorama sembra arrivare da un’altra epoca, eppure non suona mai come un esercizio nostalgico.
È piuttosto un ponte ben saldo tra il progressive rock degli anni Settanta e una sensibilità che riesce ancora a parlare al presente, muovendosi con naturalezza tra hard rock, suggestioni heavy e una forte dimensione narrativa.
Pubblicato a gennaio 2026 da Äventyr Records, Panorama prende forma attorno a una formazione ormai consolidata. Tommy Alexandersson, voce e chitarra, è il fulcro espressivo del progetto, capace di guidare il racconto con naturalezza e intensità. Le tastiere di Nicklas Malmqvist ampliano costantemente l’orizzonte sonoro, stratificando colori e dettagli che danno profondità agli arrangiamenti. Marcus Petersson al basso e Kasper Eriksson alla batteria costruiscono una sezione ritmica solida ma flessibile, in grado di sostenere tanto le architetture più complesse quanto i passaggi più diretti e orientati al live.
Above the Continuum è il cuore pulsante del disco. Un brano di ampio respiro che cambia pelle più volte e sorprende già dall’apertura, con un incipit rétro e spiazzante che incuriosisce e apre la porta a ciò che verrà. Da lì il pezzo si distende in un lungo racconto musicale fatto di melodie ampie, passaggi prog stratificati, synth, archi, cori e richiami quasi liturgici. È una suite che cresce ascolto dopo ascolto, rivelando nuovi dettagli senza mai risultare ridondante o eccessiva, dando l’impressione di una visione sonora pienamente assimilata e rielaborata con naturalezza.
Il passaggio a Face of an Angel è immediato e quasi cinematografico. Cinque minuti più diretti, con un ritornello che resta in testa e una scrittura che dimostra quanto la band sappia essere efficace anche in forma compatta. The Emissary sposta l’asse verso un hard rock epico e avventuroso, pensato anche per il palco, mantenendo però attenzione alla misura e alla costruzione del brano.
Con Bestiaus il disco rallenta e respira. Il pianoforte guida una power ballad scura e intensa, capace di ampliare il raggio d’ascolto del disco senza snaturarne l’identità. È un momento di sospensione che conduce naturalmente al finale. At the Summit chiude Panorama con un crescendo melodico ampio e solenne, lasciando una sensazione di compiutezza e visione.

Questo lavoro mostra gli Hällas muoversi con un’ambizione pienamente consapevole, spinti da un’urgenza espressiva che attraversa ogni brano. La ricerca sonora e le sperimentazioni diventano il motore del racconto, dando forma a un immaginario che sembra appartenere a un universo parallelo, sospeso tra visioni, potere e destino. Panorama non chiede fretta né distrazioni: è un disco che invita ad attraversarlo per intero, lasciandosi guidare passo dopo passo, senza scorciatoie e senza compromessi.

There is something boldly unconventional in the way Hällas present themselves in 2026. Opening an album with a suite over twenty minutes long is not just a daring choice—it’s a statement of intent. Panorama seems to arrive from another era, yet it never feels like a nostalgic exercise.
It is rather a bridge firmly rooted between the progressive rock of the 1970s and a sensibility that still speaks to the present, moving naturally between hard rock, heavy influences, and a strong narrative dimension.
Released in January 2026 by Äventyr Records, Panorama takes shape around a well-established lineup. Tommy Alexandersson, on vocals and guitar, is the expressive core of the project, guiding the story with ease and intensity. Nicklas Malmqvist’s keyboards constantly expand the sonic horizon, layering colors and details that deepen the arrangements. Marcus Petersson on bass and Kasper Eriksson on drums build a rhythm section that is solid yet flexible, able to support both the most complex structures and the more direct, live-oriented passages.
Above the Continuum is the album’s beating heart. A sprawling piece that shifts its shape multiple times, it surprises from the very first notes, with a retro and disarming opening that intrigues and opens the door to what’s to come. From there, the track unfolds into a long musical narrative of broad melodies, layered prog passages, synths, strings, choirs, and almost liturgical echoes. It is a suite that reveals new details with every listen, never feeling redundant or excessive, giving the impression of a fully absorbed and naturally reworked sonic vision.
The transition to Face of an Angel is immediate and almost cinematic. Five more direct minutes, with a chorus that sticks in your head and songwriting that demonstrates how effectively the band can communicate even in a more compact form. The Emissary shifts the focus toward epic, adventurous hard rock, crafted for the stage while maintaining careful attention to balance and structure.
With Bestiaus, the album slows down and breathes. The piano drives a dark, intense power ballad, broadening the album’s reach without compromising its identity. It is a moment of pause that naturally leads to the finale. At the Summit closes Panorama with a wide, solemn melodic crescendo, leaving a sense of completeness and vision.
This work shows Hällas moving with fully conscious ambition, driven by an expressive urgency that runs through every track. Sonic exploration and experimentation become the engine of the narrative, shaping an imaginary world that seems to belong to a parallel universe, suspended between visions, power, and destiny. Panorama asks for neither haste nor distraction: it is an album meant to be experienced in its entirety, guiding the listener step by step, without shortcuts and without compromise.
