The Wand, Chick Corea and Beyond del Francesco Chebat Trio sembra stare a metà strada tra queste due dimensioni: un lavoro che guarda a una figura centrale del jazz contemporaneo, ma senza rinunciare a una voce personale, riconoscibile e viva.

Hmmm of the Seven Galaxy (Corea) apre il disco entrando subito nell’universo di Chick Corea, ma senza indulgere nella nostalgia. Il tema viene esposto con chiarezza dal pianoforte, mentre contrabbasso e batteria accompagnano con misura, sostenendo il flusso senza appesantirlo. L’improvvisazione si sviluppa in modo naturale, in continuità con la struttura del brano, mettendo in luce l’equilibrio e l’intesa del trio.
Con Night Radio l’atmosfera si fa più raccolta. Il brano sembra muoversi in uno spazio notturno, fatto di mezze luci e di ascolto attento. Il pianoforte suggerisce traiettorie morbide, mentre la sezione ritmica accompagna con grande discrezione, contribuendo a creare un flusso continuo e sospeso.
Lume porta l’ascolto su un terreno più intimo e delicato. Il brano si costruisce su poche note, scelte con cura, e su un dialogo continuo tra i tre musicisti. Contrabbasso e batteria accompagnano con attenzione, giocando sulle dinamiche e lasciando che la musica scorra in modo naturale.

Underwater Blue introduce una sensazione di leggerezza e sospensione. Il pianoforte si muove in modo fluido, mentre contrabbasso e batteria costruiscono un fondale sonoro morbido, quasi avvolgente. Il brano privilegia l’atmosfera e il respiro rispetto alla spinta.
