Tra energia e delicatezza, un AOR contemporaneo
Ci sono storie che nascono come tributo e diventano, con il tempo, qualcosa di profondamente personale. Attivi dal 1994, i Mindfeels sono partiti suonando i brani dei Toto, ma con il tempo hanno trasformato quell’influenza in uno stile personale. L’amore per il Westcoast è diventato così il loro modo di esprimersi, fatto di belle melodie e arrangiamenti curati con attenzione. Dopo XXenty del 2017, tornano con 2WO, uscito il 30 gennaio 2026 per Art Of Melody Music e Burning Minds Music Group: un titolo che è continuità e rilancio insieme.
Fin dall’inizio si percepisce una band coesa, che suona con naturalezza e consapevolezza. Davide Gilardino guida il disco con una voce calda e duttile, capace di tenere insieme energia e malinconia; alle chitarre e alle tastiere Luca Carlomagno costruisce trame eleganti, alternando riff incisivi e aperture melodiche; Roberto Barazzotto al basso sostiene ogni brano con profondità e misura; Italo Graziana alla batteria imprime dinamica e respiro, rendendo compatta la struttura ritmica senza appesantirla.
L’apertura è affidata a Out Of Spin, che entra subito nel vivo con un groove solido e un equilibrio ben calibrato tra chitarre e tastiere. La voce di Davide Gilardino si muove con sicurezza, sostenuta da cori che richiamano la grande tradizione AOR senza suonare manieristici.
Con We Will Make It, primo singolo, il disco trova una delle sue dichiarazioni più dirette: ritornello arioso, spinta positiva, un’energia che guarda alla radio ma resta ancorata a una scrittura curata. Con Fading Lights il suono si fa ancora più compatto: un brano costruito con equilibrio che guarda con decisione alla tradizione americana.
Again In The Wind si muove tra delicatezza e dinamica, con arrangiamenti che ne accentuano la profondità emotiva, mentre Something New, uno dei singoli più intensi dell’album, racconta un amore idealizzato e profondo. Qui il sentimento diventa forza e speranza: i cori avvolgenti, le melodie luminose e l’intreccio di chitarre e tastiere trasformano il brano in un piccolo inno all’affetto duraturo, capace di dare senso al presente e aprire lo sguardo al futuro.
Flying Away From This World apre l’orizzonte con un respiro ampio e quasi cinematografico, mentre Here With Me punta a un’intimità misurata, lasciando emergere tutte le sfumature interpretative della voce.
Uno dei momenti più significativi arriva con The Other Side Of You, impreziosita dalla presenza di Michael Kratz e Kasper Viinberg: il dialogo vocale arricchisce il brano, che cresce con naturalezza fino a un ritornello intenso ma mai eccessivo. Passengers si distingue per il solo di synth di Aldo Bulgheroni, un inserto che riporta a certe atmosfere anni Ottanta, filtrate però da una produzione moderna.
Uno dei momenti più significativi arriva con The Other Side Of You, impreziosita dalla presenza di Michael Kratz e Kasper Viinberg: il dialogo vocale arricchisce il brano, che cresce con naturalezza fino a un ritornello intenso ma mai eccessivo. I Mindfeels mostrano tutta la loro padronanza musicale: in Passengers spicca il solo di synth di Aldo Bulgheroni, che richiama atmosfere anni Ottanta reinterpretate con sensibilità moderna e produzione contemporanea.
Dreamland, con un gran lavoro di chitarra, torna a un AOR più sognante e melodico, mentre You Can’t Let It Go spinge sull’immediatezza, grazie a un refrain che resta in testa già dal primo ascolto. Run Away mantiene alta la tensione, con una struttura dinamica e un interplay efficace tra chitarre e tastiere.
La chiusura è affidata a The Wait, brano che sceglie un tono più riflessivo: una conclusione che non cerca l’esplosione finale, ma preferisce lasciare l’ascoltatore in una dimensione sospesa, coerente con l’eleganza complessiva del lavoro.

Il mix e mastering di Roberto Priori donano compattezza e brillantezza all’insieme, facendo respirare ogni strumento e lasciando emergere i dettagli senza comprimere l’anima dei brani. Le chitarre trovano spazio e profondità, le tastiere avvolgono con eleganza, la sezione ritmica pulsa con equilibrio: tutto suona nitido, ma mai freddo.
2WO conferma così i Mindfeels come una presenza solida e consapevole nel panorama AOR: una band che non si rifugia nella nostalgia, ma sceglie la tradizione come punto di partenza per affermare la propria identità. C’è convinzione, c’è maturità, ma soprattutto c’è quella fiducia ostinata nella melodia come luogo d’incontro tra tecnica e sentimento, tra esperienza e desiderio di andare ancora oltre.

Between energy and delicacy, a contemporary AOR
Some stories begin as a tribute and, over time, become something deeply personal. Active since 1994, Mindfeels started by performing Toto songs, but gradually transformed that influence into their own style. Their love for Westcoast music became their way of expressing themselves, built on strong melodies and carefully crafted arrangements. After XXenty in 2017, they return with 2WO, released on January 30, 2026, by Art Of Melody Music and Burning Minds Music Group: a title that is both continuity and renewal.
From the very first note, the band feels cohesive, playing with naturalness and confidence. Davide Gilardino leads the album with a warm, versatile voice, capable of balancing energy and melancholy; Luca Carlomagno weaves elegant lines on guitar and keyboards, alternating sharp riffs with melodic openings; Roberto Barazzotto anchors each track with a deep and measured bass; Italo Graziana brings dynamics and breathing to the drums, keeping the rhythm section tight without weighing it down.
The album opens with “Out Of Spin,” immediately plunging the listener into a solid groove, perfectly balanced between guitars and keyboards. Gilardino’s voice moves with confidence, supported by harmonies that evoke the great AOR tradition without ever sounding affected.
With “We Will Make It,” the first single, the album delivers one of its most direct statements: an airy chorus, uplifting drive, an energy that nods to radio play yet remains rooted in carefully crafted songwriting. “Fading Lights” makes the sound even more cohesive: a track built with balance, confidently drawing from American AOR traditions.
“Again In The Wind” flows between delicacy and momentum, with arrangements that enhance its emotional depth, while “Something New,” one of the album’s most intense singles, tells the story of an idealized, profound love. Here, feeling becomes strength and hope: enveloping harmonies, luminous melodies, and the intertwining of guitars and keyboards turn the track into a small anthem of enduring affection, capable of giving meaning to the present while opening a gaze toward the future.
“Flying Away From This World” expands the horizon with a broad, almost cinematic scope, while “Here With Me” opts for a measured intimacy, letting the nuances of Gilardino’s voice emerge naturally.
One of the album’s standout moments arrives with “The Other Side Of You,” enriched by the presence of Michael Kratz and Kasper Viinberg: the vocal interplay enhances the track, which grows naturally into an intense yet never overwhelming chorus. In “Passengers,” the synth solo by Aldo Bulgheroni stands out, evoking Eighties atmospheres reimagined with modern sensitivity and contemporary production.

The album closes with “The Wait,” a track that chooses a more reflective tone: a conclusion that does not seek a final explosion, but rather leaves the listener suspended, consistent with the overall elegance of the work.
