Blues elettrico, fuzz e orizzonti desertici
Arrivo tardi, e questa volta senza giustificazioni romantiche: non è stato un ascolto meditato o lasciato a maturare nel tempo. Semplicemente, me lo ero perso tra la moltitudine di uscite che ogni settimana affollano le playlist e le caselle di posta. Ed è un peccato, perché Soundtrack Of A Silent Land dei Rainbow Bridge meritava attenzione fin da subito.
Uscito il 27 Giugno 2025 per Argonauta Records, il quarto album della band pugliese, segna una scelta netta: niente voce, solo suono. Un disco interamente strumentale che la band definisce come una colonna sonora immaginaria, un viaggio attraverso deserti, terre silenziose, spazi quasi privi di vita dove il tempo è scandito dalla musica. Un’idea che si traduce in un lavoro compatto, fisico, registrato completamente dal vivo in una o due take nel weekend del 25 e 26 Maggio 2024.
Giuseppe “JimiRay” Piazzolla alla chitarra, Fabio Chiarazzo al basso e Paolo Ormas alla batteria si muovono con naturalezza in questo spazio privo di parole. L’apertura e la chiusura sono affidate a un canto Navajo registrato a Monument Valley nel settembre 2023: una cornice simbolica che dà al disco un respiro spirituale e circolare, quasi rituale.
Proprio quella voce introduce A Silent Land, come un richiamo a entrare in un paesaggio silenzioso e sconfinato. Poi il brano prende corpo con un suono denso e vibrante: il fuzz della chitarra accende l’atmosfera, mentre basso e batteria costruiscono una base solida e pulsante. L’approccio resta diretto e ruvido, senza sovrastrutture, e anche nei momenti più intensi la musica conserva un carattere spontaneo, capace di trascinare chi ascolta dentro il viaggio immaginato dalla band.
Gaba alza l’energia senza perdere controllo: la batteria accelera e rallenta con naturalezza, il basso pulsa deciso e la chitarra si muove tra riff distesi e passaggi più decisi, mostrando la sintonia del trio.
Hugh The Cactus è più ruvido e psichedelico, con momenti che sembrano espandersi nello spazio. I tre strumenti dialogano con libertà, alternando sezioni lente e sospese a esplosioni di energia, senza mai perdere coesione.
Goats Everywhere! mantiene il dinamismo, con atmosfere ampie e quasi galleggianti. Il trio gioca con i contrasti tra passaggi più serrati e accelerazioni improvvise, creando un senso di viaggio sonoro vivace e imprevedibile.
Shoreline, registrata in casa da JimiRay, è un brano per sola chitarra. Le note scorrono libere e fluide, con un’atmosfera intima e rilassata che crea un momento di respiro all’interno del disco.
Lama Returns riprende subito a muovere il disco con vigore. La chitarra di JimiRay si fa decisa e nervosa, mentre basso e batteria la seguono senza esitazioni, costruendo un flusso continuo di energia che non lascia tregua. Il brano è diretto, potente, e mostra quanto il trio sappia ascoltarsi e reagire insieme, come se ogni cambiamento nascesse naturalmente dall’intesa tra i musicisti.
Sunrise Moon apre spazi più ampi e psichedelici, con la chitarra che si muove lenta e ipnotica tra linee lunghe e avvolgenti. Basso e batteria seguono con delicatezza, costruendo un flusso musicale tranquillo e sospeso che accompagna l’ascoltatore senza fretta, lasciando respirare ogni nota.
La conclusiva A Loving Sun cresce fino a un picco emozionale, ma proprio quando sembra trascinarci con sé, il canto del vecchio indiano ritorna, quieto e solenne. È come se ci tendesse la mano per farci scendere dal viaggio, segnando il momento in cui il percorso finisce e il disco ci lascia di nuovo sulla terraferma.

Se amate perdervi nel blues elettrico e nella psichedelia che sa impolverarsi sotto il sole del deserto, Soundtrack Of A Silent Land dei Rainbow Bridge è un viaggio che non potete lasciarvi scappare. Ogni brano vi guida attraverso paesaggi sonori vasti e silenziosi, dove il tempo sembra scandito solo dal respiro degli strumenti. Al centro di tutto c’è la chitarra di Giuseppe “JimiRay” Piazzolla: capace di far rivivere lo spirito di Jimi Hendrix e di chi ha cercato di raccoglierne le vibrazioni, la sua musica prende strade proprie, tra riff incandescenti, droni sospesi e momenti di pura introspezione.
Questo disco non si ascolta solo: si attraversa, si respira, si lascia sedimentare nella mente e nel corpo, trascinando chi lo segue in un percorso potente, improvvisato e completamente personale.

I’m arriving late, and this time without romantic excuses: it wasn’t a carefully savored listen or something left to mature over time. I simply missed it among the multitude of releases that flood playlists and inboxes every week. And it’s a shame, because Soundtrack Of A Silent Land by Rainbow Bridge deserved attention from the start.
Released on June 27, 2025, by Argonauta Records, the fourth album from the Puglian band marks a clear choice: no vocals, only sound. An entirely instrumental record that the band describes as an imaginary soundtrack—a journey through deserts, silent lands, spaces almost devoid of life where time is measured by music. This idea translates into a compact, physical work, recorded completely live in one or two takes over the weekend of May 25–26, 2024.
Giuseppe “JimiRay” Piazzolla on guitar, Fabio Chiarazzo on bass, and Paolo Ormas on drums move with ease in this wordless space. The album opens and closes with a Navajo chant recorded in Monument Valley in September 2023: a symbolic frame giving the record a spiritual, circular, almost ritualistic feel.
That very voice introduces A Silent Land, like a call to enter a silent, boundless landscape. Then the track takes shape with a dense, vibrant sound: JimiRay’s fuzz guitar ignites the atmosphere, while bass and drums build a solid, pulsing foundation. Hugh The Cactus is rougher and more psychedelic, with moments that seem to expand into space. The three instruments converse freely, alternating slow, suspended sections with bursts of energy, never losing cohesion.
Goats Everywhere! keeps the momentum, with wide, almost floating atmospheres. The trio plays with contrasts between tighter passages and sudden accelerations, creating a lively and unpredictable sonic journey.
Shoreline, recorded at home by JimiRay, is a solo guitar piece. The notes flow freely and fluidly, with an intimate, relaxed atmosphere that provides a moment of breath within the album.
Lama Returns immediately sets the record in motion again with vigor. JimiRay’s guitar is assertive and sharp, while bass and drums follow without hesitation, creating a continuous flow of energy that leaves no respite. The track is direct and powerful, showing how well the trio listens and responds to each other, as if every change arises naturally from their connection.
Sunrise Moon opens wider, more psychedelic spaces, with the guitar moving slowly and hypnotically through long, enveloping lines. Bass and drums follow gently, creating a calm, suspended musical flow that carries the listener along without rush, letting each note breathe.
The closing track, A Loving Sun, builds to an emotional peak, but just when it seems about to carry us away, the old Indian’s chant returns, quiet and solemn. It feels as if it reaches out a hand to guide us down from the journey, marking the moment the path ends and the album sets us back on solid ground.
If you love losing yourself in electric blues and desert-tinged psychedelia, Soundtrack Of A Silent Land by Rainbow Bridge is a journey you can’t miss. Each track guides you through vast, silent soundscapes, where time seems measured only by the instruments’ breath.
