Francesco Pierotti, nato a Terni, è un contrabbassista e compositore che ha saputo coniugare la sua formazione accademica con una profonda passione per il jazz. Dopo aver conseguito il diploma in contrabbasso classico presso l’Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Briccialdi” di Terni, ha proseguito gli studi al Conservatorio “Santa Cecilia” di Roma, dove si è laureato in jazz con il massimo dei voti. La sua carriera lo ha visto collaborare con artisti di rilievo come Fabrizio Bosso, Roberto Tarenzi, John B. Arnold, Carlo Atti e molti altri, spaziando tra jazz, pop e musica classica. Ha anche ricoperto ruoli didattici, insegnando contrabbasso presso il Conservatorio “Schipa” di Lecce e basso elettrico al Conservatorio “Martini” di Bologna.

Il contrabbasso di Pierotti non impone, ma guida con eleganza, lasciando che gli strumenti si cerchino e si trovino come in una danza lenta.
My Sweet Witch avvolge l’ascoltatore con un’atmosfera profonda e sospesa: il contrabbasso suonato con l’archetto assume un timbro caldo e avvolgente, mentre sax e chitarra si rincorrono tra pause e sospensioni, regalando momenti di pura poesia.
Characters gioca con tensioni e contrasti sonori, creando spazi aperti per il dialogo tra gli strumenti. La sezione ritmica accompagna con delicatezza il solo di chitarra, mentre sax e tromba contribuiscono al paesaggio sonoro senza sovrastarlo, offrendo a loro volta pregevoli momenti solistici e lasciando che ogni nota respiri.
Puddles (Pozzanghere) è una piccola gemma di eleganza e colore sonoro: un gioco di rimbalzi che ricorda una notte piovosa a New York, dove ogni strumento sembra saltare da una pozzanghera all’altra.
Transformer accende energia e tensione, con una spinta libera e dinamica, ma sempre controllata. Gli strumenti si inseguono e si superano a vicenda senza perdere l’equilibrio, creando un dialogo sorprendentemente armonioso.
In My Mind si apre con il contrabbasso di Pierotti, che guida il flusso musicale. La batteria accompagna con tocchi leggeri, la tromba interviene con frasi luminose, il sax dilata le melodie e la chitarra costruisce armonie che si aprono e si ricompongono, creando un dialogo continuo tra gli strumenti tra memoria e presente sonoro.
On a Sentimental Roof evoca un’atmosfera sognante e delicata. Gli strumenti dialogano con leggerezza, mentre la musica si muove tra ironia e malinconia, sospesa e poetica, come in un paesaggio notturno illuminato dalla luna.
Waiting for Claudia chiude l’album con un momento luminoso e sereno. La chitarra in gran forma guida le melodie che fluttuano sopra il tappeto sonoro del gruppo, regalando un senso di pace compiuta, nell’area del jazz melodico e contemporaneo.

Francesco Pierotti, born in Terni, is a double bassist and composer who has combined his academic training with a deep passion for jazz.
