The Seagull & The 7 Sisters di Stefano Dentone è uno di questi: un disco che non rincorre effetti o sovrastrutture, ma sceglie la strada più difficile della semplicità emotiva, trasformando l’ascolto in qualcosa di rigenerante, caldo e profondamente umano.
Originario della Liguria ma livornese d’adozione, Dentone porta dentro queste canzoni tutto il suo percorso artistico e umano, costruito negli anni tra Italia, Europa e Stati Uniti. La sua lunga esperienza nel rock’n’roll, nel roots-rock e nel country-blues riaffiora costantemente nel disco, ma sempre con naturalezza, senza mai cadere nella citazione nostalgica o nell’estetica di maniera. Più che imitare la tradizione americana, Dentone sembra volerla attraversare e reinterpretare attraverso la propria sensibilità di songwriter.
Registrato come Sundance Duo insieme a Valentina Fortunati, qui impegnata tra mandolino, banjo e chitarra classica, questo diciottesimo lavoro in studio trova proprio nell’essenzialità il suo punto di forza. Le nove tracce originali si muovono dentro arrangiamenti scarni ma estremamente curati, costruiti attorno a un dialogo sonoro che appare spontaneo e autentico fin dal primo ascolto.
Le nove tracce che compongono The Seagull & The 7 Sisters disegnano un percorso coerente e circolare, attraversato da un lessico blues e country che ritorna in forme diverse, come un tema che si trasforma nel tempo.
L’apertura affidata a Building Your Home Blues introduce subito il clima del disco, tra radici acustiche e tensione narrativa, mentre Crying e Don’t Knock On My Door approfondiscono la dimensione più intima e confessionale del progetto.
Con Far Away Blues e Don’t Wanna Go Home Blues emerge con maggiore evidenza la componente del viaggio e dello smarrimento, sempre filtrata da un approccio essenziale e diretto. Ed è forse questa immediatezza a renderlo così coinvolgente: The Seagull & The 7 Sisters non cerca di stupire, ma di creare connessione, vicinanza e ascolto reciproco.
Nel panorama attuale, dove spesso la produzione tende a riempire ogni spazio, Stefano Dentone e Valentina Fortunati scelgono invece di sottrarre, di lasciare respirare le canzoni e di affidarsi alla forza delle emozioni più semplici. Il risultato è un disco positivo nel senso più profondo del termine: non ingenuamente luminoso, ma capace di trasmettere calma, equilibrio e una silenziosa voglia di ricominciare.

Between American tradition and emotional impact
There are albums that work like a temporary refuge. The Seagull & The 7 Sisters by Stefano Dentone is one of them: a record that does not chase effects or excessive layering, but instead chooses the more demanding path of emotional simplicity, turning listening into something regenerative, warm, and deeply human.
Originally from Liguria but adopted by Livorno, Dentone carries within these songs the full scope of his artistic and human journey, shaped over the years between Italy, Europe, and the United States. His long experience in rock’n’roll, roots rock, and country blues constantly surfaces throughout the album, yet always with naturalness, never slipping into nostalgic citation or stylistic imitation. Rather than replicating American tradition, Dentone seems to pass through it, reinterpreting it through his own songwriting sensibility.
Recorded as the Sundance Duo with Valentina Fortunati on mandolin, banjo, and classical guitar, this eighteenth studio work finds its strength precisely in its essential nature.
