Un viaggio tra rock, folk e memoria generazionale
Pubblicato da Music Force, Boomer rappresenta il nuovo capitolo della lunga storia dei GTO, formazione umbra nata nel 1993 che, in oltre trent'anni di attività, ha costruito un'identità musicale personale, sospesa tra rock, folk, ska, reggae e canzone d'autore. Il disco arriva dopo un percorso ricco di esperienze che ha visto la band pubblicare The Best Of (2000), GTOClub (2002), GTOSpecial (2007), Mondial (2010), Little Italy (2013), Super (2018) e la raccolta celebrativa GO GTO GO (1993-2023), realizzata per festeggiare i trent'anni di carriera. Un cammino fatto di centinaia di concerti in Italia e all'estero, sempre all'insegna di una musica genuina, profondamente legata al palco e al contatto diretto con il pubblico.
A dare vita a Boomer sono Stefano Bucci (voce), Romano Novelli (chitarra, mandola, armonica e cori), Luigi Bastianoni (chitarra, fisarmonica e cori), Giampiero Passeri (basso) e Alessandro Bucci (batteria), ai quali si affiancano Peter Bellucci al pianoforte e alle tastiere e Roberto Benni alla chitarra acustica. Una formazione ampia e affiatata che si muove con naturalezza tra rock, folk, ska, reggae e blues, arricchendo gli arrangiamenti con sfumature acustiche e popolari senza mai perdere di vista quello stile che, nel corso degli anni, è diventato il marchio di fabbrica della band.
Con Boomer i GTO non cercano di inseguire le tendenze del momento, ma proseguono con coerenza il proprio percorso artistico, trasformando ricordi, storie quotidiane, ironia e riflessioni sociali in un album vivo, coinvolgente e profondamente umano.
L'apertura è affidata a Boomer, un brano ska energico che racchiude subito lo spirito dell'album: memoria, ironia e il racconto di una generazione attraverso uno sguardo affettuoso ma mai nostalgico. Un inizio diretto e coinvolgente, con quella naturale capacità dei GTO di trasformare storie e ricordi in canzoni da condividere.
Se Tu Non Avessi Me mostra immediatamente il lato più cantautorale della band, con una melodia calda e un'atmosfera più intima, dove trovano spazio sentimenti e riflessioni personali.
Con Gita Del Quinto ritorna il gusto del racconto popolare: un brano leggero e spontaneo, arricchito dalle sonorità acustiche e dalla fisarmonica, che riporta alle emozioni della giovinezza e ai ricordi che restano nel tempo.
Oscar è una storia raccontata con sensibilità, uno dei momenti più narrativi del disco, mentre Bella Bellissima prosegue sul versante più melodico e cantautorale, con un approccio semplice e sincero.
Con Gin And Tonic emerge la parte più festosa della band, tra ritmo, leggerezza e voglia di divertirsi, mentre New York City porta il gruppo verso atmosfere rock dal respiro internazionale.
Il Pirata recupera invece il gusto della canzone d'autore italiana, attraverso una storia raccontata con immediatezza e un arrangiamento dal sapore vintage.
Con Robert Johnson i GTO rendono omaggio alle radici del blues, reinterpretandole attraverso il proprio linguaggio folk-rock, fatto di energia e autenticità.
Con Giamaica la band ritrova il piacere delle atmosfere più leggere, costruendo un brano dal ritmo coinvolgente che trasmette serenità e voglia di vivere il momento.
TSO (Trattamento Sanitario Obbligatorio) è uno degli episodi più originali del disco: un brano ironico e pungente che, attraverso un approccio punk folk, invita a riflettere sul concetto di normalità.
Storia di Chiara è una delicata ballata dedicata ai ricordi e al tempo che passa, un momento più raccolto dove emerge tutta la sensibilità narrativa del gruppo.
A chiudere l'album troviamo due bonus track. Orgoglio, con la partecipazione di Maria Elisa Bernardini, aggiunge una nuova sfumatura emotiva al percorso, mentre Straniera, interpretata con Angelique, affronta il tema dell'incontro tra culture attraverso un raffinato intreccio etno-folk.

Dal punto di vista musicale Boomer è probabilmente uno degli album più completi della loro carriera. Ogni brano possiede una propria identità, ma tutti contribuiscono a costruire un percorso coerente, nel quale convivono energia, riflessione, ironia e nostalgia. I GTO continuano a muoversi con grande naturalezza tra folk, rock, ska, reggae e blues, senza mai dare la sensazione di voler stupire a tutti i costi. Preferiscono raccontare storie, osservare le persone, fotografare piccoli frammenti di vita e trasformarli in canzoni sincere.
Ed è proprio questa sincerità a rappresentare il valore più importante di Boomer. Non è un disco che cerca effetti speciali o facili nostalgie, ma un lavoro maturo che celebra il passato senza rimanerne prigioniero. Dopo oltre trent'anni di carriera, i GTO dimostrano ancora una volta che il loro punto di forza non è soltanto la varietà musicale, ma soprattutto la capacità di trasformare esperienze comuni in racconti nei quali è facile riconoscersi. Un album destinato a trovare la sua dimensione ideale sul palco, dove queste canzoni potranno continuare a vivere attraverso quel rapporto diretto con il pubblico che, fin dagli esordi, rappresenta la vera essenza della band.

A journey between rock, folk and generational memories
Released by Music Force, Boomer represents the new chapter in the long history of GTO, the Umbrian band founded in 1993 that, over more than thirty years of activity, has built a unique musical identity suspended between rock, folk, ska, reggae and singer-songwriter traditions. The album follows a rich artistic journey that has seen the band release The Best Of (2000), GTOClub (2002), GTOSpecial (2007), Mondial (2010), Little Italy (2013), Super (2018) and the celebratory collection GO GTO GO (1993-2023), created to celebrate thirty years of their career. A path made of hundreds of concerts in Italy and abroad, always driven by genuine music, deeply connected to the stage and to direct contact with the audience.
Bringing Boomer to life are Stefano Bucci (vocals), Romano Novelli (guitar, mandola, harmonica and backing vocals), Luigi Bastianoni (guitar, accordion and backing vocals), Giampiero Passeri (bass) and Alessandro Bucci (drums), joined by Peter Bellucci on piano and keyboards and Roberto Benni on acoustic guitar. A broad and well-established line-up that moves naturally between rock, folk, ska, reggae and blues, enriching the arrangements with acoustic and traditional nuances while never losing sight of that distinctive style which, over the years, has become the band's trademark.

The album opens with Boomer, an energetic ska track that immediately captures the spirit of the record: memories, irony and the story of a generation told through an affectionate yet never nostalgic perspective. A direct and engaging beginning, showing GTO’s natural ability to transform stories and memories into songs meant to be shared.
Se Tu Non Avessi Me immediately reveals the band’s more singer-songwriter side, with a warm melody and a more intimate atmosphere where personal feelings and reflections find their space.
With Gita Del Quinto, the taste for popular storytelling returns: a light and spontaneous song enriched by acoustic sounds and accordion, bringing back the emotions of youth and the memories that remain through time.
Oscar is a story told with sensitivity, one of the most narrative moments of the album, while Bella Bellissima continues along the more melodic and singer-songwriter path, with a simple and sincere approach.
With Gin And Tonic, the most festive side of the band emerges, between rhythm, lightness and the desire to enjoy life, while New York City brings the group towards rock atmospheres with an international feel.
Il Pirata returns to the spirit of Italian songwriting, through a story told with immediacy and an arrangement carrying a vintage flavour.
With Robert Johnson, GTO pay tribute to the roots of blues, reinterpreting them through their own folk-rock language, full of energy and authenticity.
With Giamaica, the band rediscovers the pleasure of lighter moods, crafting an engaging song that radiates warmth and celebrates living in the moment.
TSO (Trattamento Sanitario Obbligatorio) is one of the most original moments of the album: an ironic and sharp song that, through a punk-folk approach, invites listeners to reflect on the meaning of normality.
Storia Di Chiara is a delicate ballad dedicated to memories and the passing of time, a more intimate moment where the band’s storytelling sensitivity fully emerges.
The album closes with two bonus tracks. Orgoglio, featuring Maria Elisa Bernardini, adds a new emotional shade to the journey, while Straniera, performed with Angelique, explores the meeting between different cultures through a refined ethno-folk texture.
From a musical point of view, Boomer is probably one of the most complete albums of GTO’s career. Each song has its own identity, yet together they create a coherent journey where energy, reflection, irony and nostalgia coexist. GTO continue to move naturally between folk, rock, ska, reggae and blues, without ever giving the impression of trying to impress at all costs.
